Tucked away in College Station’s Veterans Park and Athletic Complex is a hidden gem – a 12-acre site dedicated to veterans from our nation’s major wars.
Tourism Strategic Plan
The Destination Strategic Plan (pdf) is to guide and inform the work of Visit College Station, assist with decision making in spending Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) revenue through grants and special projects and to make recommendations specific to sales, marketing, events and overall growth of the tourism program.
This past June, City Council unanimously passed the Plan. Led by Visit College Station and developed in partnership with Texas A&M University, the initiative aims to drive year-round tourism and generate an estimated $4 million in new revenue.
Key Pillars of the 2026 Plan include:
- Academic & Convention Focus: Positions Texas A&M as a premier conference destination, targeting up to eight annual conferences to secure roughly 12,000 hotel room bookings.
- Student Families & Leisure: Develops specialized service packages for student families and plans major leisure “anchor events” to keep the city bustling outside the traditional football season.
- City-University Synergy: Removes administrative barriers to help university departments seamlessly host conferences.
- Facility Expansion: Supports ongoing recreation and entertainment transitions in the Midtown area
