Compete College Station is thrilled to announce that College Station has been selected as the host site for the 2022 National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships. The Dale Watts ’71 Cross Country Course will serve as the host site of the event on December 10, 2022.

“The opportunity to partner and showcase the Watts Cross Country course and our community with USATF nationally is something we’ve been looking forward to for many years. Bringing in thousands of visitors in the month of December will provide an economic spark for our community. We hope that these athletes and their families will enjoy College Station on and off the track for a few days,” says Dominique Powell with Compete College Station.

Compete College Station worked closely with Texas A&M University and Destination Bryan to help secure this event in our community. All three entities, as well as many others, will continue to work together during the planning and hosting stages of the event.

“On behalf of Bryan, we’re extremely honored to be able to host the 2022 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country National Championships,” says John Friebele, Executive Director of Destination Bryan. “The strong partnership between Bryan, College Station, and Texas A&M University has provided this opportunity to host this event in our community. This partnership will make for a legendary experience that can be found nowhere else in the country. We look forward to welcoming athletes, families, and spectators in December 2022 and showcasing the hospitality our area has become known for throughout the years.”

Compete College Station estimates that the event will bring in 6,000 room nights and generate an economic impact of $1.8 million.
